Encourage your child’s love of reading this summer with the Barnes & Noble “Escape Into Summer” program! Kids in grades 1-6 can earn stickers and recommendations for reading, and even get a free book after completing the reading journal. It’s a fun way to keep young minds engaged during the break and build a lifelong habit of reading.

How to Get This Freebie

Pick up a Summer Reading Journal at your local Barnes & Noble store. The program runs from July 1st – August 31st, 2026.
Have your child read two books and complete the corresponding matchup on the journal.
Bring the completed journal to your local Barnes & Noble to receive an exclusive sticker and write a recommendation for their favorite book.
Repeat this process for each completed matchup.
Once all four matchups are complete, earn a special Champion sticker!
Finally, choose a book from the eligible list to receive for free!
